My Pain to Purpose


My life growing up was very confusing. I never felt right. My mom always thought I just wanted attention. I always complained about my stomach and I was always tired. As I grew older, I saw many, many doctors who also told me I was fine, but I knew I wasn’t. They said maybe you are just depressed, and they prescribed many different anxiety and depression medications. I grew more and more scared and that alone can make you sick. I started researching things on my own. Web MD was my thing, but that also can scare you sick. Growing up in the late 80’s and 90’s we thought low fat, carbs and sugar was all good. All the dairy, full of sugar but our parents said, “drink it, it’ll make you grow big and strong”. I’d rather they fed me SPINACH lol That’s one of my favorites now. Anyways, I lived my life eating what my parents thought was good because that’s what the media taught them. Little did everyone know that the dairy industry paid for companies to say it was healthy and they even paid scientists to make fake studies to “prove” it was all healthy. It wasn’t until two years ago from now (2019), that I discovered a type of doctor that practices functional medicine. THANK GOD! This doctor knew exactly what was wrong after two visits. No lab tests just him moving my arms and legs around (which I thought was so weird) until he said there’s lots going on with you. My hormones were all off, my body was on overdrive and my libido GONE! Now who wants that? I just thought maybe I didn’t like sex lol (not funny)! By that time, it wasn’t just my stomach, it was a whole list of things! Migraines, IBS, Arthritis, CONSTANT back pain, and wired but tired almost every day. This Doctor knew even before I ran my DNA raw data. I found out after he had been treating me that I have a MTHFR mutation and a vitamin D deficiency. This either causes your body to over methylate or under methylate. When that happens, your body doesn’t absorb nutrients! I was VERY nutrient deficient and that caused so many other issues like Hashimotos Thyroiditis. I was told when I was about 20 that I did indeed have an autoimmune disease, but no doctor could tell me what one, only real diagnosis was IBS. Being nutrient deficient like that can cause many autoimmune diseases and they all can mimic each other so I understand why I was never properly diagnosed. Letting this go for so long damage my thyroid and your adrenals go along with that, so I got even worse with my fatigue. I thought I had chronic fatigue syndrome except that’s not a true medical diagnosis. My current doctor had already started supplementing me with methyl folate, vitamin D and a few others and I seriously started to feel better within one month. I wasn’t stopping there! I went straight home and started researching all there was about methylation and I put myself on a no sugar no processed food diet and started school at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I had so much fun learning about everything I had to do something for other people! First it was just for me and my family, but I had this burning passion built up inside me and I was already learning to bake sugar free, Keto and Paleo that I couldn’t just bake for us anymore! After I graduated from IIN, I decided to open Mindful Health. I love to spread news about health, and I developed a huge passion for baking healthy desserts. My entire family loves desserts so I had to learn to keep us all healthy. I started baking for my coaching clients and I received so much support and awesome feedback that I then added a bakery to Mindful Health. That's where I come in and help guide you through all the info and help you understand YOUR body and YOUR specific needs. We are NOT all the same and we constantly change. I'm here to keep you on top of your needs and changes so that you can live a healthy and happy lifestyle. I focus on Nutrition, Activity and lifestyle. All three also consist of many things we can do to help change any behaviors you are not happy with.
